National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will partner with Udemy Business, the online learning and teaching platform, to encourage continuous learning and skill development for its employees.
Employees of NPCI — which operates retail payments and settlement systems in India — will be offered programmes to build capability in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), blockchain, distributed ledger technology (DLT), advance open source, robotic process automation (RPA), product strategy and relationship management, among others.
Nishith Chaturvedi, chief human resources and administration, NPCI reveals that this partnership will “offer a personalised learning experience to all our employees” and provide an opportunity for them to “acquire the relevant skill sets required in the wake of this fast-paced disruptive world”. He believes that these “up-skilled and trained employees are a catalyst of change for NPCI to constantly deliver innovative solutions to its stakeholders.”
Under its vision of ‘talent development for all’, NPCI is focusing on building the capability of its employees and has increased its budget for learning & development (L&D) by seven times.
Through this partnership, NPCI staff will be able to take courses on in-demand skills including tech, domain, behavioural, and leadership skills. The employees will be able to access challenging assignments to enable experiential learning.
A ‘skill index framework’ has been developed by NPCI, to identify the training needs of its employees and track deep tech capability building year-over-year. The corporation provides a differentiated growth map and performance metrics strategy to specialists in CoE roles to deepen their skills and expertise. The Company has developed an effective succession plan for critical roles through the leadership-development programme (LEAD) and executive coaching.
Vinay Pradhan, country head – India & South Asia, Udemy Business, looks forward to working with NPCI “to meet the challenges of the evolving technology space.”
